3 killed, 2 injured as car plunges into gorge in Muzaffarnagar
Agra: Three men were killed and two others seriously injured after a speeding car broke through the railing of a 12m-high overbridge and crashed into a field nearly 100m away on the Panipat–Khatima national highway in Muzaffarnagar on Sunday.Police said the victims, all in their early 20s, were friends travelling from Haryana to Uttarakhand. SSP Sanjay Kumar said, “The car was speeding and the driver lost control. The vehicle rammed into the railing of the overbridge and fell into a sugarcane field below. The impact left the car completely mangled.”Residents alerted police after hearing a loud crash. A rescue operation was launched, and with the help of villagers, the occupants were pulled out of the wreckage and taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared three of them dead.The deceased were identified as Sagar, Himanshu and Yash, all residents of Gurugram in Haryana. Chhapar SHO Mohit Singh said families of the victims have been informed. Further legal formalities are being completed, and the exact cause of the accident is under investigation.
